You're right. It's not Barry Trotz. It's Jon Cooper, whose team is 21 points clear of everyone else, and has won the President's Trophy with 10 games to go!

Insane to think a coach on pace for legendary status isn't even in the discussion by the popular opinion.

Even more insane to think that is par for the course in the NHL discourse.

GET A HOLD OF YOUR SELF MARYJANE! Accept the fact that Trotz turned last years crappiest defense into one of the leagues best! Its not luck that has both Isles Goalies playing great.. its the scheme!

Neither does the image of Trotz as a sex symbol *endless shudder*

At least Trotz is a tried and tested great coach. It's sad the litany of unemployed one offs from the Adams trophy list that owe their reputation to a hot goalie or a run of good fortune.

Cooper
Trotz
Cassidy
Berube
Brind'Amour

Could all be in the conversation but it's almost impossible to not give it to Cooper

the Islanders gave up the most goals in the NHL last year

this year the Islanders have given up the least amount of goals in the NHL

literally gone from the very worst to the very best in goals against

how do you not credit the coach for that?

Not for nothing but with all that talent on Tampa I could coach the team and they would be in the same spot. This is y I don’t think cooper will win it

Easy he just looks at the goalie stats and assumes they stand on their heads every night when in reality they usually don't have to because of the system they play and only have to make a couple of tough saves a night like most goalies. Listen if I didn't watch the isles every game I would probably think the same.

I don't know man they are having a special season so far and Cooper is just as deserving as Trotz is IMO

Cooper
Trotz
Peters
Brind'amour
Tocchet

all should be in the discussion.

Realistically it should go to Cooper.

My homer pick says Brind'amour isn't getting enough love for this (because the voters usually have their minds made up in december)

Trotz is likely going to win, because it's it's the consensus, popular pick (and also he's a damn good coach).

This is why he won't win, but it's not true at all. Pretty difficult to keep a team with that much talent rolling.

Just ask Babcock.

I think Cooper is going to win.

What he's done this year, with a great team, is special and deserves recognition.

But Trotz is a good choice too.

Despite all that LUCK!!

Of course they are but still doesn't take away what he has done there. Just saying if either won it wouldn't be surprising they both have earned it so far

I thought you'd be praising Tocchet for not playing this guy more....it hasn't helped his game by the look of it.
